ISHCMC is the first International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in Ho Chi Minh City and offers three IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). The IS HCMC approach engages and empowers the learner by valuing the part they play in creating meaning and participating actively in their learning rather than being a passive recipient of information.

An IB education is unique because of its rigorous academic standards and its holistic approach to education. IB programmes challenge students to excel not only in their learning but also in their personal growth. The IB and ISHCMC believe that together we can help to prepare students for living in a complex, highly interconnected world.
Inquiry is central to all teaching and learning in the IB. The inquiry model builds on student’s prior knowledge and enables students to think critically, raise their own questions and develop their research skills. As an IB learner, students are also encouraged to apply what they have learned to take meaningful action in their local communities.

At ISHCMC, teaching and learning is guided by our Principles of Learning. They inform planning and, in the very best teaching, ‘interleave’ together to give the impression of classroom learning which is smooth, consistent, immersive, and sustained.

Many of our educators have advanced degrees and all of our educators are committed to ongoing professional growth and development.
All ISHCMC teachers are certified for teaching the International Baccalaureate PYP/MYP/DP curriculums, and many continue to develop their IB knowledge to better serve as trainers for others.
